Abstract

Educational disparities and barriers compounded by COVID-19 required campuses to take innovative approaches to reach students. As a way for MSU to grow and cater to marginalized student populations, in Fall 2021,109 members of Midwestern State University gathered to identify the core values that would define the university’s future. The values-based framework was created to support and empower students, faculty, and staff at MSU and to establish equitable practices. Values like people-centered, community, integrity, visionary, and connections serve as the lens that provide us with the power to challenge and transform traditional practices that no longer equitably serve students. The presentation will share our vision for integration of the values-based framework for the MSU community and for advancing community partnerships that have been a driving factor in supporting our students to persist.
