(15min) Using Freel Library Ebooks as Course Texts

ebooks displayed in the New York Public Library app on a mobile phone

Description: Many of the ebooks available through Freel Library can be used by multiple or unlimited users simultaneously, and these include some textbooks. This presentation will demonstrate a process that can be used to identify and determine how to work with these books, and will show how links to textbook readings in these ebooks can be integrated into Canvas pages.

Our textbook, Medical Terminology Made Incredibly Easy (4th edition) is available as a free ebook Links to an external site. from Freel Library. If you prefer a printed text, it may be purchased from amazon.com or other bookstores. Links to appropriate sections in the textbook will be provided in the weekly topic guides on Canvas. An unlimited number of students may use the Freel Library ebooks at any given time, and they may be read using your web browser or the EBSCO Mobile app (available from the App store for Apple iOS devices and from the Google Play store for Android devices). If you plan to do most of your reading offline, the EBSCO app is probably your best choice, as the number of downloaded pages would not be limited. Otherwise downloads are limited to 100 pages per book.
